Paso Robles flight with Justin: pg 1 | pg 2 | pg 3

On the 17th of December 2011, my son and I made a flight from Reid-Hillview (RHV) in San Jose out to Paso Robles (PRB) and back with a stop at South County airport (E16) for some pattern work. Justin was just back from his first quarter of classes at University of Washington and since he just got his Private Pilot license the day before he left for college, this was his first flight opportunity since his PP checkride and his first opportunity to actually log some RV flight time! He did all the flying except for the landings and the last (short) leg from E16 to RHV (less than 90 days since his last 3 take offs and landings, so legal for him to fly with me in the plane even though I didn't let him make the landings). Great time and good experience for Justin!

There was a Marine Corp helicopter on the ground at PRB that was finishing up repairs of a mechanical problem they had enroute. Turns out they were headed for Moffett Field, where we live in military housing. One of the pilots gave us a tour of their aircraft on the ground at Paso Robles and sure enough, it was tied down at Moffett when we got home that night.
