There's no better Air Traffic Control greeting in the world than "Welcome to Oshkosh" and hearing that for the first time ever directed at me in my finally flying RV-6A was definitely a "milestone moment" after many years of building and daydreaming.  The flying trip from our home base at South County Airport south of the San Jose, CA area all the way to Oshkosh was a little over 10 hours eastbound with the return trip a few days later taking a little over 12 hours due to some pretty strong headwinds on the way back (didn't have the pleasure of any significant tailwind on the way out of course....but no complaints here!).

This picture was taken on our second or third day at Oshkosh, but I had to have the "front gate" picture with Justin:

Due to getting fogged in until after 10 a.m. on the day we departed California, we overnighted in Rawlins, WY and didn't quite make it to Oshkosh before the field closed for the daily airshow on that second day.  So we holed up at a nice little airport in Portage, WI about 60 nm South-SouthWest of Oshkosh for a few hours until we could make the evening flight into OSH when the field reopened after the daily airshow.  Here's a shot of our RV-6A tied down at Portage awaiting our first OSH arrival (cover was on "just in case" due to the occasional rain showers in the area):

And shortly after landing at OSH and taxiing to the Homebuilt camping area, we have the tent up with the plane tied down and covered up for the night:

Daytime shot of Justin walking away from our OSH tent home:
