RV-6A forward fuselage top skins being fit and drilled here.  Just as with the process for the aft top skins shown on previous page, I strapped the skins in place with a combination of duct tape and cargo straps, taking care to protect the skins with cardboard from the cargo strap buckles.  The fuselage taper made the straps want to slide aft, so I used duct tape loops on the cargo straps to hold them in place forward to aft.  At this stage, these skins are drilled at the top, then will work down towards the longerons:

 

Closer look at the tape and strap job while drilling is being done from inside the tail-cone just to make sure I didn't miss the bulkheads (no pre-punched skins on this older kit):

 

Picture from the right, front, looking aft, with the aft-most top skins drilled and the forward-most fuselage top skin taped and strapped in place, drilled across the top only at this point:

 

View from aft, right side of the fuselage as the last of the fuselage top skins are drilled to the underlying skeleton structure:
